James A. Attwood, Jr. joined The Carlyle Group in November 2000 as a Managing Director and head of the Global Telecommunications and Media group based in New York.
Under Mr. Attwood's leadership, Carlyle has committed more than $4 billion of equity in telecom and media investments globally since 2001. Mr. Attwood serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of Hawaiian Telcom, Insight Communications, The Nielsen Company and WILLCOM, Inc.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Attwood served as Executive Vice President for Strategy, Development and Planning at Verizon Communications, Inc. At Verizon (and GTE prior to that), he was responsible for the oversight of all strategic planning, alliances, ventures, corporate strategy, development and M&A activities. He was a key player in several industry-shaping transactions including the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE (creating Verizon) and the creation of Verizon Wireless (a joint venture among GTE, Bell Atlantic and Vodafone Airtouch). Prior to his four years at Verizon and GTE, Mr. Attwood served as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for 11 years, working in both the New York and Tokyo offices.
Mr. Attwood graduated summa cum laude from Yale University in 1980 with a B.A. in applied mathematics and an M.A. in statistics. In 1985, he received both J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard University.

John C. Baker founded Baker Capital which manages two funds with an aggregate committed capital of $1.5 billion. Mr. Baker is Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of QSC AG and Interxion NV and serves on the board of Verified Identity Pass. Prior to forming Baker Capital in 1995, Mr. Baker was a partner at Apax where he led investments in the technology, telecom and financial services industries including FORE Systems, Intermedia/Digex, Cadence, Resource Bancshares and Symbolics.
Mr. Baker serves on the Advisory Board of Youth, INC., a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the operations and develop the capacity of non-profits serving youth. Mr. Baker is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School.

Sean Dalton

Sean is a Managing General Partner investing in communications infrastructure and semiconductors. Sean is a former director of AccessLan Communications (acquired by Advanced Fibre Communications), Altiga Networks (acquired by Cisco), Envoy Networks (acquired by Texas Instruments), Ocular Networks (acquired by Tellabs), Telcobuy.com (merged with World Wide Technology) and Telica (acquired by Lucent). He currently represents Highland on the boards of Casero, CHiL Semiconductor, Covergence, Innovative Silicon, moka5, P.A. Semi, picoChip, QD Vision, Radiospire Networks, Starent Networks (Nasdaq: STAR) and Virtual Iron Software and also actively works with ANDA Networks, Simpler Networks and Tatara Systems. Sean has been recognized by the prestigious Forbes Midas List as one of the top venture capitalists in the industry.
Prior to joining Highland, Sean was a Venture Associate at Fidelity Capital focusing on investments in communications and electronic commerce. Before Fidelity, Sean worked as a Product Manager - Internet Services for GTE where he developed remote access and other network services for ISPs and large business customers. While at GTE, Sean led the nation's first ADSL trial for Internet access.
Sean earned a B.S., Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware, an M.S., Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Michael J. Price
Senior Managing Director
Evercore Partners
Mr. Price is responsible for all technology and telecom transactions at Evercore and previously co-founded FirstMark Communications Europe, and spent eleven years at Lazard, where he founded, and led the firm's global Telecom and Technology Group.
At Evercore, Mr. Price has advised on a number of the largest transactions in the telecom and technology industries, including Cingular's acquisition of AT&T Wireless and SBC's acquisition of AT&T, as well as Cisco Systems' acquisition of Scientific Atlanta, Qualcomm's acquisition of Flarion Technologies, and for Nextel Partners in the sale to Sprint.
In 1998 Mr. Price co-founded FirstMark Communications International, which raised $900mm, in part from Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, KKR and Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe to build a fiber optic network and local access networks covering over 100 cities in Europe.
When he left Lazard in 1998, he had been responsible for 4 of the 7 largest transactions in the telecom industry, including SBC’s acquisition of Pactel, McCaw Cellular’s sale to AT&T, the breakup of US West, and the sale of MCI to Worldcom. He had 50 people working for him, including four Partners in Europe, Asia and the US. Mr. Price created Lazard Technology Partners, which has raised over $400 million in two funds. He was responsible for some of the firm’s most successful investments, including Amdocs, a leveraged recapitalization lead by Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe (WCAS), which has resulted in over $2 billion of gain for WCAS, on approximately a $200 million investment. He was on the Lazard Operating Committee as well.
Mr. Price serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Overseers of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, the Rockefeller University Council and the Executive Committee of PAX / Real Solutions to Gun Violence. He previously sat on the boards of three public companies, SpectraSite, Amdocs and People PC. Mr. Price received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Julie Richardson

Julie Richardson is a Managing Director of Providence and leads our New York office. Ms. Richardson is currently a director of Open Solutions, SunGard Data Systems and USIS. Prior to joining Providence in 2003, Ms. Richardson served as Vice Chairman of JP Morgan's investment banking division and Chairman of the firm's Telecom, Media and Technology group. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 1998, Ms. Richardson was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch, where she spent over 11 years. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and spent a year studying finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Ms. Richardson serves on the Dean's Advisory Board of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dan Schulman

Dan Schulman joined Virgin Mobile USA in September 2001, bringing to the company a record of high performance in the consumer-marketing arena and almost two decades of experience in the telecommunications industry. Since then, he has led the company from its concept stage with 10 employees to its launch in July 2002, to be one of the nation’s top wireless carriers, and among the fastest growing wireless company with over 4.6 million subscribers and over $1B in annual sales. Virgin Mobile has been named by J.D. Power as the highest-ranked prepaid carrier in the U.S. in overall customer satisfaction.
Dan also served as the chief executive officer of priceline.com, where he established one of the most popular and recognized brands on the Internet, and was a primary architect in driving the company to profitability. Prior to joining priceline.com, Dan served more than 18 years at AT&T, rising to become the youngest member of the company’s most senior executive team, the AT&T Operations Group. He was the president of the $22 billion core consumer long-distance business. In 2005, he was named by Businessweek one of the top 20 people to watch in the media industry. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Symantec (SYMC-NASDAQ) and is chair of their compensation committee. Dan also serves on the Board of Trustees of Rutgers University. He is a native of New Jersey.

Joshua Steiner

Joshua L. Steiner is a Managing Principal of Quadrangle Group LLC focused on the firm’s $2.9 billion media and communications private equity business. Quadrangle Group manages approximately $6 billion across multiple investment strategies.
Prior to forming Quadrangle Group in March 2000, Mr. Steiner was a Managing Director at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, where he was a member of the firm’s Media and Communications Group.
Prior to joining Lazard, Mr. Steiner was the Chief of Staff for the United States Department of the Treasury, where he was responsible for managing the Secretary of Treasury’s staff and served as his adviser on domestic and international policy as well as management and communications issues.
Mr. Steiner is Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New York Public Library and serves on the boards of Phillips Academy (Andover), and the Enterprise Foundation of New York, an organization that helps develop and maintain affordable housing. Mr. Steiner is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations where he is on the Board of Advisors of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Steiner received a M.St. in Modern History from Oxford University. He received a B.A. in History from Yale University.
