Harold S. Blue has been an entrepreneur, senior executive and private equity investor for almost three decades.  Today, Mr. Blue is a managing partner of HealthEdge Investment Partners, an operating-oriented buyout firm that acquires controlling interest in small cap healthcare companies.  Harold and his partners founded HealthEdge in 2005 and have seven underlying portfolio companies.  Previous to that he was managing partner of Comvest Investment Partners, a generalist private equity fund formed in 2003 with $165 million in capital under management.  Harold was responsible for seven transactions and served on more than 15 boards of directors during his time at Comvest.

Prior the last decade of private equity, Mr. Blue was the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of four healthcare companies, three of which were successfully exited and one was taken public.  Mr. Blue was the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ProxyMed, Inc., which he took public in 1993. During his tenure (1993 through 2000), he raised over $100 million in capital for the business and transformed the company from an institutional pharmacy business into a leading healthcare technology company.  In 1984, he formed Best Generics, which became the fourth largest generic drug distributor in the U.S.  In 1988, he sold the business to IVAX Corporation, marking IVAX’s first acquisition in the generic pharmaceutical marketplace.  Subsequently, IVAX became the U.S. leader in generic drug manufacturing and distribution and merged with Teva Pharmaceuticals two years ago for $7.5 billion.  Mr. Blue served on the Board of Directors of IVAX for two years.  From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Blue was founder and Chief Executive Officer of Health Services, Inc., a multi-physician practice management company, which he sold to Inphynet, a public company.  From 1979 to 1984, Mr. Blue founded and served as CEO of Budget Drugs, a discount chain of retail pharmacies.  He subsequently sold the company to various entities, including Eckerd Drugs.

 

Mitchell Blutt

Dr. Mitchell Blutt is the CEO of Consonance Capital, a health care focused investment firm.  He is the former Executive Partner of J.P. Morgan Partners (JPMP), from which he retired in March of 2004. Dr. Blutt participated in the general management of JP Morgan Partners, as well as having specific responsibility for overseeing the Global Life Sciences and Health Care Infrastructure Group and certain other investment focus areas. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, in the Department of Medicine at Weill Medical College and the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University.

Dr. Blutt completed his BA and MD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.  He received his MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania through the Clinical Scholars Fellowship sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  He completed his medical residence at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical School.  He was one of the first employees of Chemical Venture Partners (1986), the predecessor to Chase Capital Partners, which became J.P Morgan Partners.

Dr. Blutt formerly served on numerous boards of directors, including Cardinal Health, Fisher Scientific, DJ Orthopedics, General Medical, Hanger Orthopedic Group, Thermoscan, and Somerset Pharmaceuticals.    He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine, the Health System of the University of Pennsylvania; the Board of Trustees of the Brearley School and formerly served on the Board of the National Venture Capital Association and the Board of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

Benjamin Edmands is a Managing Director in the New York office of CCMP Capital. Mr. Edmands focuses on making investments in the healthcare sector and has been responsible for CCMP's investments in Legacy Hospital Partners, CareMore Medical Enterprises, Warner Chilcott, MedQuest Associates, DJ Orthopedics and Hanger. He holds a B.A. from Colgate University and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. Mr. Edmands currently serves on the board of directors of CareMore Medical Enterprises, National Surgical Care and Legacy Hospital Partners.

Craig Frances, MD is a Managing Director for Summit Partners, a leading private equity and venture capital firm with a capital base of nearly $9 billion under management, and leads healthcare investing on the West Coast.  Recent investments include National Veterinary Associates, the largest private owner of free-standing veterinary hospitals in the U.S; HealthCare Partners, the largest private physician group in California and Physicians Formula, the largest and fastest growing, independent cosmetics manufacturer in the mass market.  Prior to Summit, Craig was President of The .tv Corporation Int’l, acquired by Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN); co-founder of yourPharmacy.com, a leading online pharmacy backed by Express Scripts; and co-founder Expert Consensus Guidelines. 

Craig was Chief Medical Resident at the University of California, San Francisco and Valedictorian at Cornell Medical College.  Craig’s board directorships and investments currently include National Veterinary Associates, HealthCare Partners and Physicians Formula.  He previously held board or advisory posts with Medscape, HealthAllies, and Commission Junction.

 

Jeffrey H. Margolis

Widely recognized as a visionary in the application of innovative information technology to the complex and rapidly changing healthcare industry, Jeff Margolis founded The TriZetto® Group, Inc., in 1997, the first Application Services Provider (ASP) to serve the healthcare industry with pre-integrated information technology solutions.  TriZetto went public in October of 1999; its shares are quoted on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol TZIX.  In 2008, TriZetto entered into a $1.4B transaction to be taken private, with Mr. Margolis continuing as Chairman and CEO.  From $3 million in revenue upon its founding in 1997, TriZetto has become recognized as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the U.S., with 2007 revenue reaching $451 million and approximately 2000 employees.  Today, it is the market-leading supplier of software and related services for the healthcare insurance industry.  The company’s software touches more than half of the insured U.S. population. The company’s technology provides the foundation for many health plans offering new consumer-directed healthcare programs and managing new Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D programs.

Jeff has more than 24 years of experience architecting and managing information technology and technology-based services for some of the nation’s largest and most innovative healthcare organizations.  He is the former senior vice president and chief information officer of FHP International Corp., a $4 billion healthcare company that operated health plans, multi-specialty physician clinics and hospitals, serving more than 2 million members and patients.  Prior to that, Jeff was Chief Information officer of TakeCare, Inc., and CompreCare, Inc.  Jeff began his career in the management information systems consulting group of the organization now known as Accenture, where he helped launch the company’s managed care consulting practice.  Margolis was named an “up and comer” by Modern Healthcare magazine in 1994.  In 2002, he was named Ernst & Young's Technology Entrepreneur of the Year for Orange County, California, Deloitte & Touche has recognized TriZetto among the fastest- growing technology companies in the U.S. and Orange County multiple times, and in 2006, TriZetto was named outstanding public technology company by the American Electronics Association. 

Mr. Margolis received his B.S. in Business Administration--Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with high honors.  Mr. Margolis holds CPA certificates in Colorado and Illinois. He has served as an instructor in the Managed Care Systems graduate program at the University of Denver, and lectures regularly at the University of California, Irvine and the University of Illinois, where was also honored as commencement speaker for the College of Business in 2007.  In addition, he has participated in and taught an extensive number of continuing professional education courses and health care industry seminars.

 

Christopher D. McFadden

Chris directs debt and equity investments in private and public North American-based healthcare companies as part of the Americas Special Situations Group (AmSSG), an investing arm of Goldman Sachs. From 1999 to 2007, Chris was a senior equity analyst responsible for the firm’s US healthcare services research coverage and served as a member of the Global Investment Research (GIR) Sounding Board. Chris joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 as a vice president and was named managing director in 2004.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Chris worked as a senior research analyst at Wheat First Securities, now Wachovia Securities. Prior to that, he held marketing and management positions at Xerox Corporation.

 

Chris serves as a member of the board of trustees of Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He founded and leads RAMP, a mentor program for undergraduate students and is the past chairman of the advisory board for the Philip Coltoff Center of the Children’s Aid Society. He is also a fellow for the Health Care Solutions Group of Nashville.

 

Chris earned a BA in political science from the University of Richmond and studied graduate economics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Chris became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1999. He and his wife, Mary, have three children and live in New York City.

 

Nathaniel Zilkha

Nat Zilkha is a Principal at KKR where he focuses on investments in healthcare.  Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Zilkha was at Goldman Sachs, where he led the healthcare investing efforts for the Goldman Sachs Capital Partners funds. Over his career he has invested over $1.5 billion of equity in various sectors of healthcare including services, managed care, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Zilkha graduated cum laude from Princeton University.
